Helps to diagnose myasthenia gravis (MG) and distinguish between MG and other conditions.
One should go for this test if he/ she notices symptoms, which vary in type, severity and combination, may include like Drooping of one or both eyelids, Double or blurred vision, Weakness in arms, hands, fingers, neck, face or legs
This test requires a blood sample. A tourniquet (elastic) band is placed tightly on the upper arm. The patient is then asked to make a fist. This helps in the build-up of blood filling the veins. The skin is disinfected before needle insertion and the blood sample is collected in vacutainer.
Based on the presence or absence of autoantibodies against each of the antigen (Positive or Negative Result) along with the intensity and class of each antibody, the overall result can be determined.
